The new releases maintain a steady stream of arrival. This week features music from the Finnish sextet, Tahmela Six’ second album “Alight”, French trumpeter Jean-Baptiste Rousseaux, Polish pianist Marta Warelis with an outstanding cast live at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, bassist Pedro Molina’s quartet from Portugal, a teaser track from O.N.E. quartet from Poland, three very contrasting trios – Bobby Bradford/Mark Dressrer/Hafez Modirzadeh live in a house concert, the wildly improvisational Hypermaniac (Sylvain Darrifourcq/Goncalo Almeida/Camila Nebbia), & European free jazz giants (Daunik Lazro/Joelle Leandre/Paul Lovens), and new light on music from the masters: a discovery of 1968 & 1972 performances in France by alto saxophonist Marion Brown’s quartet and the first authorized re-release, the remastered “Clarity”, guitar giant Michael Gregory Jackson’s debut album.
