Would you believe this show marks the 25th anniversary of One Man’s Jazz? Almost to the day. The first show aired live on CKUW FM on May 1, 1999. This edition is the first show of a new era for One Man’s Jazz – no Taint Radio anymore – and for now, One Man’s Jazz will be holding forth with weekly shows on mixcloud.com with subsequent posts to allaboutjazz.com. I hope you’ll continue to listen. This is also a two-hour joint; not sure if this is a permanent change but we’ll see. Some dynamite new releases for the occasion too: pianist Aki Takase’s Japanic with all kinds of relatives and music friends on “Forte”; Swedish legend tenor saxman Gilbert Holmstrom still kickin’ it at 87; Ivo Perelman and Tom Rainey with the first of another of Ivo’s duo series; saxophonists Devin Brahja Waldman and John O’Gallagher releases; and English drummer Tom Skinner with Voices Of Bishara in a live performance.
