Lots of new releases to check out in this episode and several are trios: Canadian guitarist Gordon Grdina drops two new releases with different threesomes, bassist Nick Dunston continues to display originality with his release “Spider Season”. There are two from Toronto – bassist Alex Fournier and My Misshapen Ear – one from Chicago by Jeremy Cunningham, Dustin Laurenzi & Paul Bryan, and a New York basement session from David Bindman, Stefan Bauer and Michael Sarin (The Relative Motion Trio). Releases from larger ensembles come from Amsterdam’s Zebra Street Band, Polish pianist Kamil Piotrowicz’s Sextet and a pair from New Orleans by saxophonist Roger Lewis and poet Don Paul.
