One Man’s Jazz has a full slate of interesting stuff coming at you in episode. Drummer Francisco Mela plays homage to his mentor, the late pianist McCoy Tyner, on a new release called “Music Frees Our Soul”. This is the first volume of three focused on Tyner; the pianist will change each time. On this first one, it’s Matthew Shipp with William Parker on bass. Another great’s music will be sampled as well– drummer Alvin Fielder’s “The Very Cup Of Trembling”, and I’ll pay tribute to yet-another master drummer, Jerry Granelli, a man I admired very much. And I think you’ll really like the latest release from Polish saxophonist Adam Pieronczyk with the powerful guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly front and centre.
