Guitarists Miles Okazaki and Dan Phillips contribute music from their new recordings in this edition of OMJ. Okazaki’s “Boomtown” features a larger ensemble of top New York musicians, while Chicagoan Phillips hits it with his usual hometown duo of bassist Krzysztof Pabian & drummer Tim Daisy on the new “Universal Paradigm”. There are more guitarists as well – Poland’s Krzysztof Hadrych in Tentno & Giulio Cuppari in Psoas, a trio from Italy – and in a memoriam set that includes the majestic Sonny Rollins, guitarists James Blood Ulmer & Vancouver’s Tony Wilson are remembered. Saxophonist Camila Nebbia brings her free jazz power to a duo with drummer Chris Corsano, and Pendulum’s second of the “Opening Arcs” monthly releases is also sampled. Much more for you too.
