This episode marks the 600th show for Taint Radio since joining the unique internet jazz station – 24/7, dedicated volunteer hosts, and no commercials – there’s nothing like it. To mark the occasion, two feature albums with a poetry connection. The first album is “Chrome Valley” by Lincoln Center poet-in-residence, Mahogany L. Browne & pianist Sean Mason, and the second is “The Langston Hughes Project Vol. 1″ from alto saxophonist David Bixler. There’s no actual poetry in this; rather, Bixler based his compositions on Hughes’ poetry and its inflections and vocal characteristics. You’ll also hear music from new albums from bass clarinetist Jason Stein & pianist Marilyn Crispell, Polish saxophonist Milosz Pieczonka’s debut, the comeback album of Norway’s The Core, and from Germany, the improvising quartet Jack & Reza Askari’s ROAR. Add in a preview of a new release by pianist Andy Milne, and it all comes together to acknowledge another One Man’s Jazz milestone show. Thanks for your interest in the show!
