As usual, this week’s edition of One Man’s Jazz has some interesting new albums to introduce. James Brandon Lewis is one of the most in-demand, most popular saxophonists on the planet with frequent new releases coming out. Orientation Of We is a quartet of Lewis, trumpeter Michael Irwin, bassist Max Johnson and drummer Joe Hertenstein that evolved out of a regular meeting to explore music together. Eventually they recorded “Emergence” in 2018; it was released by Off Records from Belgium. Now it’s available digitally and you’ll hear a couple of tracks from that album. Pianist Benoit Delbecq’s new Triple Fever trio has finally released their new one, as has San Francisco guitarist Karl Evangelista and Frank Carlberg’s Large Ensemble (“Elegy For Thelonious”).
