There’s a definite edginess to much of the music in this week’s One Man’s Jazz. It begins with music from some old friends, Finnish trio Black Motor, then with a freely improvised piece by pianist Anthony Coleman and drummer Brian Chase, to Kraft, a great quartet from Baltimore, then the closer of the first hour, Tomas Fujiwara’s Triple Double. In the second hour the edge continues with the Nublu Orchestra with conduction by Butch Morris, Fear of Faces from Norway, and saxophonist Daniel Rorke. The third hour reaches way beyond the edge with half of a live performance from London’s Café Oto by James Brandon Lewis, John Edwards and Mark Sanders, a long overdue return by Mostly Other People Do The Killing, then another Norwegian improvising trio, Emmeluth/Nergaard/Andersen. Buckle up for this one.
