There’s an interesting mix of new music in this episode, among them preview of upcoming releases by two important creators, both alto saxophonists: the great innovator Ornette Coleman and New York Loft Scene pioneer Alan Braufman. The trio, Hello Cacus, has three talented younger players and their probably one-off meeting, “Happy Thief”, is a gem. Australian and now Scandinavian resident Daniel Rorke dropped some great music on me, and the saxophonist shows off a number of different sides of his ability. There are the usual revisits to some fine recent releases, this week including The Gathering and Emile Parisien.
