Three very important recordings highlight this edition of One Man’s Jazz. First, a celebration of the sixth decade of the incredible and enduring creativity of The Art Ensemble of Chicago. One of the major developments of Chicago’s AACM went to Paris in 1969 and made an incredible splash. Now in 2022, the current version returned to record in that same city, and the results is “The Sixth Decade From Paris To Paris” on the Rogue Art label. Next, Satoko Fujii’s celebration of her 100th release as a leader recorded in New York with an amazing band, and lastly the massive project undertaken by saxophonist Ivo Perelman, “Reed Rapture In Brooklyn” – 103 tracks spread over 12 recordings of Perelman playing duos with some of the most important reed players today. You’ll also hear new music from John Hollenbeck’s George, Portuguese bassist Cicero Lee, the Sun Ra Arkestra, pianist Eri Yamamoto, and percussionist Ian Dogole. It’s an amazing time for music.
