Lately you’ve heard a number of recordings featuring Buenos Aires saxophonist and composer Camila Nebbia. Rather opportunely, Ears & Eyes Records has just released “Aura”, a new album by Ms Nebbia. It shows off her skills as a composer in a set of deeply dense and challenging tunes. Belgium’s singer and keyboardist Lynn Cassiers reshapes classic jazz standards on her new “Yun” for Clean Feed, while Intakt Records drops a fine new trio recording from alto saxophonist Charlotte Greve. Italian bassist Federica Michisanti is back with a new album as well. And of course the guys get their due as well, particularly young American saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins on his debut “Omega”. Watch out for this guy. This is just some of the great music on One Man’s Jazz for this week.
