Several artists or groups in this edition of OMJ are new to the show, and they’ve got plenty to say. Making their debuts are Italian trumpeter Jacopo Fagioli & his quartet, the duo of saxophonist Erin Rogers & bassist Kelsey Mines, the Polish trio Product May Contain, and the Swiss trio DIVR. Then there are some artists who haven’t appeared for a while, like saxophonist Lena Bloch, pianist Denman Maroney and French guitarist David Chevallier. Then there are those who should have a permanent locker at OMJ: saxophonist Rick Countryman with frequent partner drummer Christian Bucher and saxophonist Camila Nebbia who has another new trio release, this time with pianist Marilyn Crispell & drummer Lesley Mok. All these and more contribute to a show that takes no prisoners.
