Back in early 2021, Italian drummer Francesca Remigi sent along her debut recording. It was very impressive. She composed material based on her concern for social justice and change. Now along comes her follow-up, “The Human Web”. Once again she’s looking at the effect of technology and social media on society. It’s the feature recording this week. Other highlights include an excellent quartet led by pianist Eri Yamamoto, the duo of Satoko Fujii and Joe Fonda, Toronto’s Eucalyptus, and a couple of not-so-new albums: German pianist Klaus Ignatzek’s band featuring Dave Liebman, Sam Rivers live, and Viva La Black, and English group led by the late Keith Pickett. Lots more great sounds too.
