Highlights for this episode: new piano trio releases from Germany’s Felix Hauptman, Barber Mouse from Italy, and Sweden’s Lisa Ullen. Another trio, this one reeds/bass/drums, is Montreal trio Nebula. They’ve just released a freewheeling live concert done last year, while Vancouver’s Gordon Grdina’s Arabic-leaning Haram also hit the studio around the same time as Nebula. Haram has guitarist Marc Ribot guesting. There’s also a piece from bassist Stephan Crump’s solo project, and Minneapolis’ Erik Fratzke’s Fake Accent debuts.. Topping that off is a preview from an excellent new release by the Michael Bisio Quartet.
