This episode introduces several new recordings and the music is fantastic. From Europe you’ll hear Tobias Meinhart & Berlin People (Germany), the avant French quartet Novembre, and two trios from Portugal (Joao Almeida, Rodrigo Pinheiro & Vasco Furtado and Spos). Devon Russell Gray, Nathan Hanson & Davu Seru are a trio from Minnesota with a powerful and poignant statement, and composer Anthony Branker’s “What Place Can Be For Us?” is in the same vein. From South Korea comes saxophonist Soojung Lee, while fellow saxophonists Jane Ira Bloom (with Mark Helias & Bobby Previte) and Ivo Perelman & Matthew Shipp also debut new albums. Lots of great stuff!!!!!
