This episode is loaded with excellent music from first to last note. It’s highlighted by some very noteworthy new releases, especially two from Intakt Records: saxophonist Charlotte Greve and the Lisbeth Quartet, and the remarkable drummer from Germany, Gunter Baby Sommer, with the Lucaciu Brothers. Two other drummers step out with new albums: Tyshawn Sorey and a new trio and the venerable Pierre Favre teamed up with trombonist Samuel Blaser. Pianist Russ Lossing, South African saxophonist Linda Sikhakhane and the Austrian band, AHL-6 also debut new albums. Rounding it off, is a look at Anthony Braxton’s complex Ghost Trance Music by Belgian guitarist Kobe Van Cauwenberghe.
