It was kind of bittersweet to put this show together. On the one hand, sad that Taint Radio iss shutting down operations on April 30th, but on the other very happy and proud to have been a part of this very independent internet station for 12 years. There was, and probably will not be in the future,, anything like Taint Radio with its unique form of no commercials or ads, streaming 24/7, and programs created by hosts from different countries with the freedom to play whatever the hell they wanted. Bob Rogers, the veteran broadcaster from Raleigh NC, deserves every kind of applause and credit for the original idea and for keeping Taint alive and well. My profuse thanks to him, and props to my fellow show hosts!
One Man’s Jazz will continue on Mixcloud.com with shows also available at allaboutjazz.com, and who knows what else will turn up. The music’s not going to change, but the length of the show might. Who knows!
Some excellent new albums explored this week: saxophonist Jason Robinson, Norwegian drummer Ole Mofjell, the Borderlands Trio, releases from Jazzhausmusik in Cologne Germany, and samples of two new never released before archival albums from Sun Ra & The Arkestra and Yusef Lateef.
PS: I’ll be programming a couple hours of international artists’ music (April 30th is International Jazz Day) to contribute to Taint’s final day. Not sure of the time slot. Why not just stream Taint Radio for the day?
