Many of us have favourite places, like a bakery that sold amazing bagels, or a record store that seemed to carry everything you ever wanted in music. And then it closes, and there’s nothing to replace it. It almost feels like that for me with the closing of Clean Feed Records, I say almost because I know the artists who were part of Clean Feed’s 25 years of releasing amazing music will find an outlet for their music and I hope to find it. Clean Feed, though, was (still is) a go-to source for programming music for One Man’s Jazz. So after considering what I might do to express my thanks to the fine people in Lisbon who created and believed in what they were doing, I decided to celebrate them with a two-show retrospective of music from Clean Feed releases. Seven hours of music picked at random from what Clean Feed releases I have, some combined in special sets, and all done with love and much respect.
