The recently concluded Vision Festival in New York provided me the opportunity to hear some artists for the first time, and I quickly began looking for their music – like pianist Hidemi Akaiwa & the powerful Konjur Collective – which you’ll hear in this episode. That seemed to spur me to do some additional surfing, and I turned up other music, like the Ancient Infinity Orchestra from Leeds, UK, Finnish tenor sax rising star Jimi Ahlroos, and a 1977 recording, finally released album called “Roundtrip” featuring the magnificent Don Cherry with electro-sonic pioneer Jean Schwarz & other French stars. New albums received and sampled came from Italy’s Bassism Trio, Germany’s fine bassist Reza Askari & ROAR, a duet between two very important Brits, saxophonist Larry Stabbins & pianist Keith Tippett, and Portuguese guitarist Zé Cruz.
