The path is wide on this edition of One Man’s Jazz: from the outright free jazz of Chicago’s Stirrupto a Dutch avant garde trio in their first live gig during the pandemic to an “internet” duo to very progressive vibraphone to interpretations of Bill Frisell’s compositions to a bit of funky music from Italy. Stirrup is led by cellist Fred Lonborg-Holm on this new album; Omawiis the trio from The Netherlands; saxophonist Rick Countryman was in The Philippines while drummer Steve Hirsh was home in the USA, connected digitally: vibist Yuhan Su makes her OMJ debut; Unscientific Italians now have two recordings delving into Frisell; and funky and down home sounds come from Zenophilia, led by Italian drummer Zeno De Rossi.
