The Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University in Melbourne is noted for its innovative programs. One of those brings in guest artists to perform and work with the students. This week’s show has three recordings from that series, and they feature guitarist Ben Monder, saxophonist Sandy Evans with pianist Andrea Keller, and trumpeter Ralph Alessi, all playing their own compositions with different student ensembles. Also this week you’ll hear a new recording by saxophonist Rich Halley, a couple of things from the German Boomslang Records’ catalog, and the South African band, Spaza!
