All the flavours of creative improvised music are represented in this episode of One Man’s Jazz, with plenty of new recordings on the bill: two terrific groups from Toronto – See Through 4 and Ernesto Cervini – (some good friends playing in those), freedom songs from trumpeter Barry Long, avant-garde collaboration between pianist Alexander Von Schlippenbach & drummer Dag Magnus Narvesen, pianist Aruan Ortiz exploring his roots in Santiago de Cuba, and previews of two up-coming releases from Finland’s Olavi Louhivouri & Superposition and the exciting group, Orchestre Nazionale Della Luna. Bassist Miles Perkin is back with a solo album called “Subtones”, all synthed up. The rest is mighty fine, too. Enjoy!
