This week’s episode features some vigorous and heady music from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in the middle of it all is tenor saxophonist Camila Nebbia. I discovered her in a trio with bassist Santiago Lamisovski and drummer Andres Elstein which led me to getting more of her music. I think you’ll like it. Other new releases this week com from a couple of excellent trios, bassist Kenneth Jimenez’ latest, “Triangulate The Landscaper” and drummer Jeff Cosgrove’s “History Gets Ahead Of The Story”. For his last several albums, bassist William Parker and pianist Matthew Shipp have been part of Cosgrove’s trio, but for the new one he’s turned to saxophonist Jeff Lederer and keyboardist John Medeski. Parker is still about however: all the tunes are his compositions. Drummer Vijay Anderson’s quartet has released “Covers” with the proceeds going to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. (Find it on Bandcamp.) And I kid you not: there’s a lot more fine music for you as well.
