Three feature albums this week. Sure to be a best-of for 2020 Tim Berne’s Snakeoil on “The Fantastic Mrs. 10″. Berne has switched labels from ECM to Intakt, and added a guitarist to the quartet but the music is still as original and brilliant as always. Two ex-pat Canadian saxophonists, Anna Webber and Angela Morris debut “Both Are True” with their much-talked about big band, and the powerhouse free jazz trumpeter from Portugal, Susana Santos Silva, has a new release as well with her quartet, Impermanence. Also new, English drummer Andrew Bain’s “No Boundaries” and some improvisation on Mussorgsky’s Pictures Revisited from master saxophonist David Liebman and pianist Kristjan Randalu from Estonia.
